Yucky 40 degree day on the way today, and not much cooler tomorrow, so preparations must be made. House closed up early, windows shut, blinds drawn. Roses cut and put in a vase, as the sun would cook them today in any case. Vegie patch and some of the newer, more vulnerable plantings in the garden watered early. Say goodbye to my gorgeous dahlia blooms, as they probably won’t survive the heat wave, but are too deep in the garden bed to reach and cut.

The garden has never looked so lush and verdant at this time of year before. We have lots of apples and plums too.

And guess where this path leads?

To the new tool shed that Pete built!

Finally, a proper storage place for garden tools.

This makes me very happy.
