I find coloured pencils very frustrating to work with; it’s so hard to get any depth. The warm, soft tones of these roses just cried out for some colour to be applied, however, and the sketch paper is too thin to take paint. Here are the actual subjects in all their voluptuous glory, although not in the same setting:
Only paint could do them justice, really.
And what do you think of the teapot? I found it in an op-shop on Saturday, but the boys hate it. ‘Squat and ugly’ was their verdict. Myself, I thought it was rather elegant.
