On a sunny winter’s day like today, the passive solar design of this house comes to the fore.

In winter, the lower angle of the sun means that sunshine floods into the living area and warms up the house. The downside is that this means every smear on every window and every cobweb in every corner is lit as if a by a beacon. You should never clean the house on those sunny winter days, you will find it takes much, much longer than usual.

A better idea is to go outside and admire the hardenbergia, which is flowering beautifully, and the pond, which is looking very lush after all the rain during the week.
