Bitterly cold again today, despite the deceptively sunny afternoon. Scamp and I dashed around the block because it was too cold to dawdle. We saw the first acacias to bloom, luscious red and pink camellias, white magnolias and my favourite, the flowering quince. Well, I saw them. Scamp saw mainly my knees and the lower trunks of trees and other dogs to glower menacingly at. He quite enjoys that.

The sky was so beautiful again. Is it my imagination, or is the sky even more lovely in winter?
